The CIFF was recognized as one of the 50 leading film festivals in the world by IndieWIRE. In March 2012, Ohio’s premier film event featured over 300 films originating from over 60 countries and an attendance of over 85,000 - making the CIFF one of the largest and longest running regional film festivals in the US.

  • ReelWomenDirect Award: Based on audience vote, 10,000 U.S. Dollars
  • Best Central & Eastern European Film: 10,000 U.S. Dollar; 
  • Greg Gund Memorial Standing-Up Film Competition: 5,000 U.S. Dollar; 
  • Best American Independent Feature: 2,500 U.S. Dollar; 
  • Best Animated Short Film: 1,000 U.S. Dollar;
  • Best International Short Film: 1,000 U.S. Dollar; 
  • Best Student Short Film: 1,000 U.S. Dollar; 
  • Best Women's Short Film: 1,000 U.S. Dollar; 
  • Best LGBT Short Film: 1,000 U.S. Dollar;

Rules

  • Productions made after June 1, 2022 may be submitted, with the exception of those works previously submitted to the CIFF;
  • Do not submit works in progress;
  • Entries previously screened in Cleveland or aired on television in Cleveland or are available on the web (ie Youtube, Vimeo) prior to the Festival will not be considered.
  • All linear films under 45 minutes are considered short films.

outbound shipping only.

Content may be narrative, documentary, animation, or experimental. If your submission meets the criteria for this category, you MUST email us directly at submissions @clevelandfilm.org prior to submitting, with a description and example of your content.
